Bisham Abbey Parkland

Bisham Abbey Parkland Plan

Bisham Abbey was once home to Henry VIII and Elizabeth I and has a long history as well as modern sporting facilities for a variety of visitors. It is located on the borders of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire in grounds on the banks of the River Thames.

Bisham Abbey is one of Sport England's National Sports Centres and is home to a number of National Governing Bodies of Sport.

Ashmead Price has provided a masterplan for the whole site to address issues of visitor access, circulation and movement in the context of the historic Scheduled Ancient Monument site. There are opportunities for restoring the tranquillity of the riverside setting, and integrating additional facilities into the well treed parkland setting.

The Flagship National Sports Centre is operated by Serco Leisure on behalf of Sport England and we undertake twice yearly audits of the landscape maintenance contract in order to monitor the condition of the grounds.

The masterplan is being implemented with the full cooperation and enthusiastic contribution of the Sport England and Serco management team.

On behalf of the Sports Council Trust Company
